I can't believe how much rain we have had the last few weeks. I know October was great weather wise but I did not expect this much rain in November. All these poor people where there has been floods and they have nowhere to go. It's not going to be a happy christmas for them I don't think. I'm just happy I don't live near a river or lake in these conditions.

Weather

HI, Hasn't the weather been awful these last days? So windy and wet all the time. I was hoping for a nice November this year but I'm still waiting.... We are off to Sweden for Christmas this year so we will get some snow on Christmas day at least. My kids just love playing in the snow and building snow caves, making snow angels etc. I just need to buy some proper winter clothes for them so they keep warm!

Making a paperweight

Your kids will have fun sorting through the mail to collect interesting canceled stamps. When they've collected a few, soak the stamps in warm water until they separate from their envelopes. And then let the stamps dry. Then glue them onto a small rock. Brush on "Modge Podge", white glue, or a clear finishing gloss.

Voila! You have made a paperweight......

Knights Tale

First pick these from your party guest,

- 2 princess's
- 3-4 knights
- 1 shield
- the rest are wanderers

The princesses hide themselves and don't tell anybody where they're hiding. There's no hiding or looking together. The wanderers and knights wander around trying to find a princess. When a princess is found by a wanderer then she has to stay put while he goes to find the knight. The wanderer tells the knight were she is (he's not allowed to tell him the name of the princess). The knight must run to get the princess before another knight gets her.

When he finds a princess he must hide her in a place nobody else can look.

RULES
1, no guarding princesses
2, no spying, it ruins the fun of the game
3, use a set amount of time
4, princesses are not allowed to scream
5, the shield tries to find princesses and free them from knights
6, wanderers are divided among knights
7, princesses who are captured after the timer has gone off share love's true kiss
8, if knights run into another they can fight one another

Bouncy Castle...

There is lots of parents who rent/hire a bouncy castle in for the kids birthday parties. Some people are more keen then others to have a bouncy castle at the party. I know they are quite a few accidents on those 'toys'. And the same really with a trampoline. I bought a trampoline for my son this summer and he loves it. But many of my mummy friends have decided not to buy one for their children, due to accidents. I don't regret buying one, YET!! My son loves it and he jumped on it every day.

Hi,

Hope you are all enjoying the weather we are having. October has been good so far except for a few rainy days!

As some of you might now I'm from Sweden and living in England makes me sometimes miss the Swedish food & sweets that I'm used to eat.

Well, I have found this Swedish shop up in London where they sell food, sweets and some more traditional things from my home country.

I have been there ones but I think another visit is coming up soon.

HI,

What a lovely weather we have at the moment. Sun is shining and mornings a quite crisp but nice and warm during the day. Soon we have winter here. Stores are already selling christmas stuff!! I went shopping today and some of the things out there is TO early, I think. Who wants to but christmas crackers now? Well, not me anyway.

I still enjoy our garden with some of our flowers still there. There is plenty of time to get things ready for christmas.

Three blind mice

Give each child a round blown up balloon, write their name on the balloon to stop any arguments. Also give each child a piece of A4 paper.
All they have to do is keep their balloon in the air the longest, wafting it with the paper.

First day at school

The first day at school went really well. We left him this morning outside the class room and he was happy seeing his friends from nursery there playing already. He seems to have had a great day, he did not say that much when we picked him up though! But he looked very pleased with him self as he waved bye bye to his friends...

Another day tomorrow though....

Tomorrow is the big day for my son Cameron. He starts SCHOOL! He looks so grown up in his new uniform and very handsome. Most of his nursery friends (23 kids ) is going to the same school so he will be quite comfortable there.

He is looking forward starting but I'm not sure he completely understand what's 'school' really is. Something he will do Everyday for the next 11 years..... I'm ok with it but I do think they start school very early here in England. I'm swedish, and we start school when we are 6 years old and finish when we are 15 years old. So schooling is a bit shorter in Sweden. But equally good.

Picking Black Berries.....

I just love black berries....

So I went out yesterday to pick some more. But they are now getting a bit soft and watery so I only manage to get half a bowl. They taste lovely in my porridge in the morning and also in my home made cakes that I some times bake!

I have now quite a few bags of the black berries in the freezer so I can take up as I need them. Jammy.....

Outside play

HI,

Today we have been to an outside play farm with some friends. The sun was shining but it was very windy all day. It is lovely to see you child just running around enjoying them self playing together nicely. It felt like the last whole day together with my old NCT friends. All our children is starting school next week so our weekly meetings for last 4 years is coming to an end!

I have really enjoyed having those friends around me for support and just chatting over a cup a coffee. They will still be there of course but the weekly meet is finally up.....;(

But I guess we can still meet up with out little one's and kind of starting all over again!!!

Anyway, going out tonight with some other friends for dinner. Looking forward sitting down without the kids and enjoying the peace.

Hello,

I have just been to a 4th birthday party with my son. They had Bob the Builder for their birthday party theme. My son just loves Handy Manny at the moment. Watching it on Tv most mornings actually, ( now we have sky installed ).

There was lots of children at the party but luckily we could be outside to play, as they have a small house it would have been a bit tight....

Anyway, have to go and cook dinner for my little ones now. Hoping for a early night as they seems to be quite tired after all the running around playing.

And there we are, summer holidays over, Again!

We have had a great summer with a few holidays in Europe. The sun has been seen on few occasions here in England this year but I have to say that I'm glad we went abroad to get some more sun.

My son is starting school next week and is very exciting about it all. Not sure if I'm ready though to let him go.....But the time has come and I hope he will get on well in his new school and all the new friends.

We are off to Sweden tomorrow again to visit my parents and all the family. Looking forward seeing all of my friends as well. My son is very exciting about the flight out there. He just loves flying and he is now quite used to sitting in an airplane as we do travel lots to Sweden all through the year. He has a few cousins out there that he can't wait to see and play with again.

Where has the summer gone?

As we are now in August already I'm just thinking, How much sun have we had this summer??

Well not much at all. (again)

I was looking forward going to the beach a lot this summer but the weather has just been so bad that we only manage to go a few times. And all the kids parties we have been to have been a bit wet as well. We where really luck with our son's birthday party at the end of July, it was a lovely day and no rain to be seen.

I really hope it is going to pick up a bit before school starts again!

Trampoline

It was my son's birthday last Friday and we bought him a trampoline as his birthday gift. And he just loves it. When his friends where her for his Superhero birthday party they jumped all the time. The day after his Birthday party he asked me 7.30 (in the morning) if he could go out and jump before breakfast!!

I know there are known to have lots of injuries done on them but I thought, well he might fall or hurt himself in the play park anyway.

So I'm glad we bought him one for his 4th birthday.

Gingerbread Men

INGREDIENTS

350g / 12oz plain flour
175g / 6oz light soft brown sugar
100g / 4oz butter
1 medium egg
4 tablespoons of golden syrup
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
½ teaspoon of ground ginger
Pre heat oven to 180c / Gas mark 4. Approx 13-15 min in oven.
You will need a rolling pin and pastry cutters.
Mix the flour, butter, ginger & soda in a bowl until crumbly.
Add the sugar, syrup & egg until all mixed in.
Roll the dough out and cut out your men!
Taste Lovely....

1, Try to think about some activity that you can do indoors or outdoors. And create some space beforehand for the party animals to enjoy it safely.

2, Get some extra plates & cups for hungry adults, as they arrive later to pick the children up.

3, Get some spare napkins to wrap your birthday cake up in. They are always good to put in the party bags at the end.

4, Charge the camcorders & cameras BEFORE the party. We have all done that misstake!!!!!!

It should not be difficult to organize a themed kids party. I think it sometimes can be easier to have a themed birthday party for little ones. You can easily make a costume yourself depending on how much time you have and how imaginative you are....

There is always lots of Fancy dress shops online as well for you to easily choose one from.

I ones did a very easy 'fancy dress' for my son's party.

A ghost.... Just take a white sheet, cut wholes for arms & eyes. Make black rings around the eyes and tie a rope around the waist.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey

Draw or paint a picture of the back of a donkey without the tail on a big piece of paper or card draw on a big "x" where the tail should be, also paint a separate tail that will be pinned on or use "blue tac". Each guest is blindfolded in turn and lead to the donkey, spin them round 3 times, then they have to "pin the tail on the donkey". The one who has put their tail closest to the "x" is the winner. Either make different tails for each guest or mark the spot with their name.

Hi,

I hope you are enjoying our lovely sunshine outside. I am! I went to buy my children a paddling pool today.They are having so much fun in it already. Cameron is also looking forward to his Superhero Birthday Party he is having at the end of July. Not sure if he is going to have a Lazy Town theme , Ben 10 theme, Spiderman theme or Harry Potter theme.

Pass the Parcel

What you need for Pass the Parcel game,

Wrap a bar of chocolate (or a small gift), in a layer of wrapping paper. Now wrap it in another layer with a new bar of chocolate/gift and repeat until you have 9 or 10 layers (or however many children there are at the party). Sit everyone in a circle and play a short snippet of music. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes ONE layer of wrapping and gets that treat. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping has been removed; restarting and then stopping the music each time. You can use different treats for each layer to add a bit of mystery and keep the children interested longer.

Well, we all have our favorite superhero, don't we. My son LOVES Lazy Town still. He also likes Spiderman, mostly of his clothes though and that he can fly! I always tell him that i am his Superhero but he just tells me that I'm 'just' his mummy and I can't fly or bounce up in the sky...

Hello Everyone!

Finally the New website is LIVE. I am really please with the new colour scheme and the new layout. It is so difficult to imagine how the new website will look when you are deciding on a template and different colours. But hopefully this will interest more customers and give me more sales as well.

I love the new photos of the children on the catalog page. I found them on istockphoto really cheap and they are such a good quality compare if you are taking them yourself!

Cupcakes

Lovely Cupcakes

Ingredients:

125 gram unsalted butter

1 cup caster sugar

3 eggs

1 1/2 cups plain flour

1 tsp baking powder

3/4 cup milk

Icing

50 gram unsalted butter

2 cups icing sugar

2 tbs milk

1001 or marshmallows to decorate

Preheat oven to 180°C. Place cupcake papers in two 12-hole cupcake trays. Beat butter until pale in colour and creamy. Add sugar slowly and mix well. Add the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla essence and beat until combined.

Sift flour and baking powder and add half to butter mixture with half the milk, mix well. Repeat with remaining flour and milk.

Fill cupcake papers ¾ full (an ice cream scoop is perfect for this). Bake larger cupcakes for 20-25 minutes and smaller cupcakes for about 15 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle of a cupcake comes out clean. Transfer to wire racks and allow to cool completely.

Icing
Cream butter until pale and smooth. Add the milk and half the sifted icing sugar. Beat until well combined. Add the remaining icing sugar and beat until mixture is light and fluffy. The mixture should be a spreadable paste; if it is too dry add some more milk, if too wet add more icing sugar.

You can also add some flavoring like chocolate, vanilla or lemon.

Did you know this....

"Happy Birthday To You" is the most well known song in the English speaking world and perhaps in the whole world to! It's origins began with a nursery teacher from Kentucky called Mildred J Hill. In 1893 Mildred composed a melody and her sister Patty Smith who was the school principal added some simple lyrics to form the song "Good morning to all". It was to be a simple greeting song for teachers to use in welcoming students to the class every morning. The catchy little tune soon became very popular and was later published in a songbook 'Song stories for Kindergarten'. No one is sure who changed the words to what we sing today as 'Happy Birthday' but it first appeared in a songbook in 1924 and since then it has been sung at millions of Birthday Parties!

Musical Chairs
